Resting in Illusion: A Rare Transmission of Longchenpa's Gyuma Ngalso

Discover the Gyuma Ngalso with Khentrul Gyurme Dorje Rinpoche through a rare 3-month transmission. All welcome.

Longchen Rabjam (1308–1363) is one of the most widely respected masters in Tibetan Buddhist history — honoured across all schools, especially in the Nyingma tradition. His writings distil the essence of thousands of texts, offering not philosophical speculation but illuminating guidance rooted in direct experience.

Among his most celebrated works is the Trilogy of Rest (Ngalso Korsum), three texts each emphasising a distinct dimension of the path:

  • Semsnyid Ngalso — "Resting in the Nature of Mind" — centred on the View
  • Samten Ngalso — "Resting in Meditation" — centred on Meditation
  • Gyuma Ngalso — "Resting in Illusion" — centred on Conduct and Action

This free course focuses on Gyuma Ngalso, perhaps the most accessible of the three. Through eight luminous similes of illusion, it condenses the core essence shared by both Sutra and Tantra into a direct, experiential path — teaching that phenomena are like dreams, reflections, and magical displays, and that seeing this clearly is itself the path to freedom. More about this text here.

This insight is shared across traditions, making this course equally relevant to students of Mahayana and Zen, not only those in the Vajrayana. Practitioners of any background are warmly welcome.

This rare 3-month course is guided by Khentrul Gyurme Dorje Rinpoche, who upholds the tradition of His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche. During his lifetime, His Holiness personally authorised his close disciples to transmit Dzogchen directly — and Rinpoche holds this authorisation.

This is not a teaching available from just any teacher.

This is a teaching from a living lineage that is increasingly rare and profoundly precious.
