Ven. Pasanna and Bhante Sujato walk for alms-food in Burwood on the third Sunday of every month. Come and offer them some food in Burwood Park and join for a shared picnic lunch.
Almsround is a tradition that dates back to the time of the Buddha. Piṇḍapāta is not begging. The monastics simply walk or stand silently and receive what is offered.
After our shared lunch, we will reconvene at Concord for a sutta reading and discussion led by Ven. Pasanna.
The suttas (Pali for "discourses") are the primary texts, consisting of records of teachings or conversations by the Buddha or his disciples. The suttas are a trove of wisdom, and cover a wide range of topics, including meditation, ethics, family life, the nature of understanding, and the path to peace.
We typically explore one sutta each month, reading the text together and having a discussion.
