We recently hosted a public talk and Day of Practice with Ajahn Thanissaro (aka Ajahn Geoff) at the Western Sydney University auditorium with a hybrid audience of over 100 people each day. Ajahn Thanissaro had a dialogue with our president Tina Ng, answered questions from the audience, and led guided meditation practices. Videos for the event will be uploaded to our Youtube Channel shortly. The events were very successful and we express our gratitude to Ajahn Thanissaro, fellow monastics in attendance, our volunteers and donors, participants, and our major sponsor, the Western Sydney University.

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR AJAHN GEOFF'S METTA CENTRE EVENTS

Our volunteers have been busy working to make this weekend's events ready for you! We are very fortunate to have Ajahn Thanissaro (Ajahn Geoff), Ajahn Keng and fellow monastics accept our invitation to offer teachings at the Metta Centre. As we are expecting a large crowd and to make the most of our time together, we ask that you be punctual in your attendance and allow extra time for travel. We encourage you to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the event (6.30pm for Friday and 12.30pm for Saturday). Fortunately, the train strikes have been cancelled for this weekend but as there is the Metro upgrade on the Bankstown train line, there are replacement buses so please factor this in when planning your travel. For those driving, you can park at the Bankstown Civic Tower (enter via Civic Dr) or Bankstown Central. Street parking is also available.

For those joining our Day of Practice on Saturday, there will be guided meditations throughout the day. We have chairs for everyone but if you prefer to use a cushion, then please bring your own. We also encourage you to bring your own water bottle and you can refill at the university.

Metta Centre friends travelled to Melbourne to acc

Metta Centre friends travelled to Melbourne to accompany Ajahn Geoff (Ajahn Thanissaro) on the start of his Australia Tour. We have visited Wat Samphanthawong, and will also be visiting Buddhist Society of Victoria, Buddha Bodhivana Monastery and Vimokkharam Forest Hermitage. Ajahn Geoff will be arriving in Sydney on 21 November, before proceeding to Canberra, Brisbane and New Zealand. Metta Centre have organised Ajahn Geoff to offer teachings on Fri 22 and Sat 23 November. Get your free tickets on our website www.mettacentre.com

Metta Centre friends volunteered at the Santi Forest Monastery's Kathina Ceremony to celebrate the end of Vassa (rainy season retreat). Since the time of the Buddha, monastics in the Theravada tradition would undertake retreat for 3 months and at the conclusion, the lay community would come together to rejoice, celebrate, and offer robes and other requisites to the monks and nuns. This tradition still continues, usually throughout the month of November.
