Introduction to Buddhism Course

Two-week course to cover the fundamentals of the Buddha’s teachings and what makes up Buddhism.

This two-week course will cover the fundamentals of the Buddha’s teachings and what makes up Buddhism. There will also be opportunities for participants to ask questions, clarify any misunderstandings about Buddhism, and learn why Buddhism is such a popular and relevant religion for our modern lives. The course will be presented by different presenters who will also sit on a panel to answer questions and facilitate discussion.

About the Presenters:

Justin Luu has been actively serving the Buddhist community in Sydney for many years, having been a founding member of the Mitra Youth Buddhist Network, and is currently serving as the Vice President of the Metta Centre. Justin mentors students and in his own practice he has also attended many meditation retreats abroad and locally. Professionally, he works as an IT consultant.

Zen Low discovered Buddhism while studying as a university student in New Zealand. Experiencing an immediate affinity to the Buddha’s teachings, he was amazed by the immense benefits of combined Buddhist meditation practice and ethics. Since then, he has attended several extended meditation retreats in Australia and abroad, and has organised meditation courses in Fiji and Australia. His primary interests include the early Buddhist texts and applying the Dhamma in daily life. Zen is also a Chartered Accountant and has assisted numerous Buddhist organisation boards with their financial and board enquiries.

Tina Ng is the Founder and President of the Metta Centre and also the Principal Solicitor of Metta Legal, a law firm that deals with cases relating to family law, child protection, property, civil litigation and guardianship matters. She is an accredited mediator at Metta Resolution, which provides mediation, training and coaching to resolve conflict in the community and within families. Tina has a keen interested in supporting the youth, and has run various mentoring programs through her business and projects. She has organised various events, has played the role of coordinator, emcee, and auctioneer at charity functions. She has shared the Buddha’s teachings in conferences, talks, workshops, and in her writings.
