The Buddha, the greatest man to have walked this planet, discovered the nature of nature. He introduced the Dhamma, which precisely explains the fundamental theory of nature: the Theory of cause and effect. The great elders who lived in the Buddha’s era fully understood nature, which led them to surface the happiness of realization: Unconditional happiness.

As sentient beings, we experience the world through our minds, and the world we see is a creation of our minds, shaped by our beliefs, experiences, and emotions. Due to Ignorance in the mind, we don’t perceive the world as it is. We always perceive fixed entities, which lays the platform for attachment. Attachment causes all the sufferings that all sentient beings experience.

This talk will allow you to deeply explore this phenomenon called ignorance, which can liberate individuals from all suffering. Moreover, this will enable you to understand the meaning of Anichcha, one of the Buddha’s salient teachings, is the theory of cause and effect, which is the ultimate characteristic of the world we perceive.

Join us with this talk, and gain insight into the true purpose of your life and understand your ultimate duty and responsibility as a human being.

About the speaker: Ven. Dr. Athurugiriye Mahinda Thero

Having lived his lay life in Australia, working as a research scientist at the Australian National University after completing his PhD, Ven. Mahinda Thero has always believed the cornerstone of a fulfilling life is comprehending the fundamental truth about the inner workings of one’s mind. It was this curiosity and no small amount of good fortune that led both him and his then-wife to discover the authentic teachings of the Buddha. To follow in the footsteps of a teacher who showed them the true purpose of their life and the path that would lead them to Enlightenment, Ven. Mahinda Thero decided to take the life-changing decision to leave behind an indulgent lifestyle of worldly comforts, career successes and marriage and set off on a journey to achieve unshakeable happiness.

On his journey as a higher-ordained monk, he has helped many thousands of individuals overcome life challenges, such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, addictions and more. Ven. Mahinda Thero is a pro bono consultant for Vimukthi Foundation, a state-registered charitable NGO established in Sri Lanka, which operates several social service programmes such as a rehabilitation centre, an orphanage, and a youth academy. Whilst practising the noble path to reach his ultimate goal of unshakeable happiness, as someone who has delivered several talks on related topics to numerous audiences both in Sri Lanka and Australia, he is well known for dedicating his time and energy to spreading compassion and kindness to all and help them discover the absolute truths of life, as he once did.
